Sanja Miljan received her B.A. in Latin Philology and History from the Centre of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, M.A. in Croatian Latinity at the Centre of Croatian Studies and M.A. in History at the Catholic University of Croatia. Her M.A. thesis in Croatian Latinity was titled The Comparison of the Work of Miha Madijev and the Anonymous Chronicler from Split named A Cutheis from a Linguistical and Historical Aspect, while her M.A. thesis in History at the Catholic University of Croatia dealt with the history of the Franciscan Order in Zadar, which led to her wish to expand the topic to the whole Province of Dalmatia for her PhD thesis. Sanja joined the then Department of Medieval Studies in 2017 as a PhD student. She is working on the institutional, social and economic history of the Franciscans in the Province of Dalmatia, from the arrival of friars up until the mid-fifteenth century. She also attended the Diploma Programme in Manuscript Studies at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies in Toronto, which was held in 2019 in Toronto, and, after delays due to pandemic, in 2023 in Rome.Her research interests include Medieval social, political and religious history, urban history, Medieval manuscripts, editing of sources and translation of Medieval legal documents.
