Last Thursday saw the launch of our new MA in Museum Studies. Students, staff and faculty gathered at the Wien Museum to celebrate the new program, where a cohort of students from seven countries will spend the next two years devoting themselves to an interdisciplinary study of history, deepening their knowledge of museums and learning the practical aspects of the diverse range of work performed by museum professionals.
"The program provides students with the skills, experience and professional knowledge needed in a modern museum. I wish I had had the opportunity to combine theory and practice earlier in my career," said Nathaniel Prottas, Head of Wien Museum Education and co-director of our MA. Along with Prof. Jan Hennings, he will guide students through the next two years of their education. "The program brings the university into the museum and the museum into the university. A synergy from which both the historical sciences and the museums will benefit," predicted Prof. Hennings.
We are already looking forward to welcoming the next cohort of students in the academic year 2025/26. Prospective students can join our Open Day on Wednesday, September 18, or one of our many admissions events throughout the coming months.
