Research

Our faculty and students conduct research that spans time periods from late antiquity to the present day, geographically reaches across the globe, and ranges across themes as varied as the Ottoman Empire, Early Modern India, and Cultural Heritage in modern Europe. For an overview of our research interests, please explore our fields section or our faculty profiles.

We win major grants, including the EurAsia Cluster of Excellence, host the annual Natalie Zemon Davis Memorial Lecture Series, and promote upcoming researchers through graduate conferences. We also have a thriving student community, with a wide geographical and chronological range of reading groups, colloqia and social activities. We reward the research efforts of our students through fully-funded PhD positions, MA student tuition-wavers and monthly stipends, and yearly prizes.
