Next month, our PhD students will be taking time out of their busy schedules to present at the International Medieval Congress in Leeds, England. Our Emeritus Prof. Gerhard Jaritz was involved in the foundation of the IMC, which attracts more than two and half thousand participants. With some creative license, and with the tacit agreement of those concerned, we imagine the knowledge that will be imparted by our presenting students ....
Amidst the grey, concrete buildings and somewhat unpredictable weather, Saranya Chandran will talk about digital humanities and Garshuni Malayalam. Nelson Bennett will attempt to expand his methodological horizons and, fortunately, the excellent and kind Prof. Guy Halsall is moderating his session. Meanwhile, Osman Özdemir will be performing his interpretation of narratology, possibly through interpretative dance. Olha Stasiuk's presentation in the same panel will not likely not involve narratology or dance. Olga Vlachou will provide another update on her progress in her research into social networks and prospography in Byzantium. Anastasiia Morozova will present how two types of secular love in Cassiodorus' letter collection functioned to reinforce an association of Ostrogthic rulers with Romans in sixth-century post-Roman Italy. And Jack Wilson will talk on Mongols. Again.
